Ayurveda For Striking Out The Stigma of HIV

The HIV infection continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed more than 25 million lives over the past three decades. There were approximately 34 [31.4-35.9] million people living with HIV in 2011. The advancements in the medical research have shed off the stigma related to the disease by proving that if properly treated it is as safe as any other infection; however, it is extremely hazardous to life if not appropriately attended to. The medical approach to HIV basically aims at preventing the progression to the deadly AIDS. This can be achieved by preserving the genetic material of the host, i.e., the infected person from being damaged or modified by the HIV. So, the medical interventions required here are chiefly the cytoprotective remedies.

The most important marker used for assessing the effect of treatment and the recovery is the CD4 cell count. An immune factor, CD4 cell, is an expression of the total immune status of an individual. CD4 cells are basically the immunoglobulins which assist in presenting the antigen to the host defense cell triggering the immunological cascade. Normal blood values are usually expressed as the number of cells per microliter (or cubic millimeter, mm3) of blood, with normal values for CD4 cells being 500-1200 cells/mm3. HIV infection leads to a progressive reduction in the number CD4 cells, which represents the dilapidation of the immune machinery and an increased threat of acquiring AIDS counting on his overall Health, Immunity and Vigour. The immune expression generally depends on three major factors, viz, season, food, genetic constitution and the reaction of cells to the stimulus.

The strengthening and weakening of the immunity in relation to the season and the food one consumes has been very well perceived by Ayurveda, for eg, it states that an individual is exposed to a maximum risk of combating diseases during rainy and summer months while his immune machinery functions to its maximum in the winters. So ayurveda advocates seasonal variations in food, exercise, social mingling, drinking water etc. and the same variations are judged by a personalized evaluation. Similarly, Ayurveda considers the food as the most important medicine to maintain one's health and explains the art of healthy eating for healthy living including what, how and when to eat taking into consideration the individual physical and mental constitution, age, place of inhabitance, season, diseases one is suffering from etc. The reaction of the host cells to the incoming stimulus can be improved promisingly with the herbal remedies of Ayurveda having sure shot action on the tissue health.

Conceiving the potential of Ayurveda for the restoration of health, ayurveda doctors are forming several treatment plans. The ideal ayurveda package against HIV aims at accommodating those living with the stigma of HIV into the safe hands of the science of Ayurveda. It includes not only a medicinal cure but is a total lifestyle training which will help to modify your erroneous way of life and help you regenerate your health, immunity and vigour. Thus, those packages have a definitive role in empowering the host immune system which defines it efficacy as a potent immuno-modulator.
